Domaround is about the use of dome buildings. Dome homes, schools, churches, stadiums and warehouses are becoming a choice in construction. Why is the dome useful, strong and inexpensive to build? Why are some concrete domes energy efficient, hurricane, floodproof, fireproof and even earthquake resistant? Yesterday, I spoke with the President of the Monolithic Dome Institute, David B. South. He told me that an order of 55 domes was placed by a company that is sponsoring in India to help rebuild after last year’s tsunami. This order was followed by a second order of a whopping 20,000 twenty-foot diameter domes. The premier of India was involved with the second order.
